Richard was born in Tijuana and raised in San Diego. He was inspired to be an architect through legos and his interest in drawing. What inspired you to become an architect? He has a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University, and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from NewSchool of Architecture and Design.
At Platt/Whitelaw Architects, his responsibilities include as project design/coordination from schematic design through construction documents, as well as coordination with clients, consultants, and agencies. He loves seeing how his designs can bring people together to interact with one another and how architecture can make an empty space become something cohesive.
Richard is bilingual (native-speaking Spanish and English). In his personal time, Richard is a talented traveler/blogger and photographer. He also enjoys playing the drums, traveling, photography and sketching.
Richard is currently working on architectural licensure.
