Tom was born in Madison, Wisconsin, and raised in St Louis, Missouri. He attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri where he was inspired to seek a career in Architecture during studies of Western Civilization. He transferred to Arizona State University’s Architecture department and received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon. Tom has lived in Missouri, Arizona, Oregon, and California. He is a registered and licensed California Architect.
Tom has over 40 years of experience in the field of architecture. His experience ranges from residential to commercial and everything in between. He has a passion for historic architecture and for design and planning – his most interesting Historic Renovation was of the beautiful Central Library in Portland, Oregon.
He joined Platt/Whitelaw in 2019. While at Platt/Whitelaw he has worked on community, recreational, and educational projects.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar and tending to hummingbirds.
