Don’t adjust your screens. It’s not a case of déjà vu. Randy is back!
We’re glad to welcome Randy Biegenzahn back to Platt/Whitelaw Architects. Randy worked with us from 2008 to 2012, until he left to launch some projects for General Atomics, as well as other interesting work, through another architecture firm.
Currently, he’s busy with one of our elementary school modernization projects and will be working on many of our other public and community projects, as well.
Randy was inspired by his father to become an architect. “My father was a builder who worked with some well-known architects in the Seattle area, and he would often praise them,” Randy said.
His father’s influence reaches into Randy’s hobbies, too. He’s a weekend home improvement warrior.
At work, Randy is happiest when he’s helping to solve problems for clients. “I enjoy thinking about the unique, technical elements that challenge a project,” he said. “We don’t design in a vacuum; there’s many considerations and perspectives to consider.”
Randy says he’s enjoying being back at Platt/Whitelaw because it’s “a very well organized, professionally run company, but there’s room for creative input, too.”
He returned to a mix of familiar and new faces but says that everyone is still very accessible, and he appreciates the company culture. “We all work in a design atmosphere that’s not overtly rigid,” he added.
Another bonus of returning to Platt/Whitelaw Architects? “The restaurants!” said Randy, alluding to North Park’s diverse culinary offerings.
Randy is a California Registered Architect and a USGBC LEED Accredited Professional – LEED AP. He’s also a testament to the quality of our local colleges; he has an associate degree from Palomar College, a bachelor’s degree from SDSU and a master’s degree from NewSchool of Architecture & Design.
