Dave Madigan was born in Chicago and raised in Nebraska after short stints in Massachusetts and New York. Dave started college in aerospace engineering. Fortunately for us, he realized he was more interested in designing a space station’s flow and appearance, than in figuring out how to blast it into orbit. Dave’s choice of architecture was inspired by being equally interested in science and the arts. He attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies in 1990, and achieved a Master of Architecture in 1992. He is a registered and licensed Architect.
After many years living and designing in Chicago, Illinois for two firms, he moved to San Diego in 1999 to avoid standing on an “El” platform in minus 20-degree weather. He joined Platt/Whitelaw in 2010, left for a short time and returned in 2014. He was made Associate in 2018. His outstanding knowledge of architecture, and architectural detailing, makes him an exceptional asset to the firm.
He has been involved in all stages of project development, from concepting and design through project close-out, and has strong experience in technical detailing and construction administration. Many of his past projects have culminated in LEED gold.
He has dedicated his career to figuring out how to build structures that hopefully improve peoples’ lives. In his private life, Dave loves to travel and take photos of architecture that inspires him.
