Peter lived his early years overseas in Nairobi, Kenya. This sparked a lifelong interest in language, culture, and travel that led to a career in Washington, DC in international affairs. Following 9/11 and the collapse of the travel industry, and inspired by Christopher Alexander’s seminal design book A Pattern Language, Peter decided to become an architect.
Beginning in architecture from scratch, he enrolled in the NewSchool of Architecture and Design and began working for the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture under the tutelage of Alison Whitelaw. From there he found his way to Platt/Whitelaw and worked for four years before moving on to multiple other firms and project typologies. His life took another twist when he opened his own Scottish brewpub, Fourpenny House, and operated that for several years before returning to architecture and, ultimately, back to Platt/Whitelaw. Peter is a California licensed architect.
Peter enjoys writing and exploring the world, from publishing several books, to a cross-continental expedition in a vintage Land Rover. He believes there is always someplace new to explore, and no time like the present.
