Rick brings over two decades of A/E experience to Platt/Whitelaw as a financial manager and controller. The firm’s CFO and HR manager, he utilizes his 30+ years of accounting experience to manage corporate finances and build relationships with clients, consultants, and staff. Rick is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and leads the firm’s financial and administrative policies. Working closely with the firm’s Principals and project managers, Rick strives to ensure that Platt/Whitelaw is operating efficiently in order to pass those savings along to our clients.
Rick is a San Diego native. As a young boy he watched San Diego Stadium being built, and over the next several decades was a lifelong fan of both the Chargers and the Padres. More recently he watched San Diego Stadium get demolished, making way for the new home of his alma mater, the Aztecs. Rick received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from San Diego State University. He has spent most of his 30+ year career in finance departments of various A/E firms, including a 300 person healthcare and education architectural firm, and a 125 person civil engineering firm that was heavily involved in the major Qualcomm Stadium expansion during the 1990’s. He is an active California CPA. During his free time, Rick enjoys reading and going on long walks and hikes all over our beautiful city.
