Platt/Whitelaw Architects Welcomes Michelle MacDonnell as Architectural Project Manager

Meet Michelle MacDonnell, a registered architect and our new Architectural Project Manager.

A Twofer

Oh, and meet Pandora, too. As a bonus for hiring Michelle, we gained an office mascot. Pandora, a 14-year-old black labrador retriever, sits quietly at Michelle’s feet as she works.

“I started bringing Pandora to work with me in Salt Lake City during COVID, when we were rotating in-office days to minimize face-to-face interaction,” said Michelle. “It works because she’s chill.”

A Trek Westward

Michelle spent years working in Salt Lake City but increasingly suspected that San Diego might be a better fit for her. Fortunately, she noticed that we were looking for someone with her skills.

In addition to incredible weather and just about the best team an architect could hope to join (also the humblest?), the types of projects we design helped cinch Michelle’s decision to move west.

Community Architecture

Michelle enjoys designing public and other community-oriented buildings, so her experience is a great fit for us. She’s already jumping in on our Baker Elementary School project and getting up to speed with several others.

A good communicator and team player herself, Michelle says her favorite projects are determined more by getting to work with great people than by the specific project type.

Making San Diego Home

In addition to establishing some strong working relationships here in San Diego, this former president of the Hop Bombshells Homebrew Club is also looking to establish her new social activities and relationships. She’s already noted how friendly San Diegans are.

We’re excited to have Michelle on board, and we hope her new San Diego lifestyle is everything she dreamed of. We hope you have a chance to meet, work or hang out with Michelle.
