About the Client/Project: San Diego Unified School District requested that Platt/Whitelaw provide a feasibility study, design and construction and services to assist the District in its effort to install Solar PV Systems at K-12 sites all over the District. The goal was to identify potentially significant issues in design and construction and provide recommendation of sites to receive PV installation to maximize the financial benefit and cost savings to the District.
Project Challenge: PWA is managing nine schools in Group 2 (commissioning only), 14 schools in Group 3 (full services), 12 schools in Group 4 (Assessment & Full Construction Administration Services for a Design-Build delivery System), 8 schools and administration buildings in Group 5 (Assessment & Full Construction Administration using the Design-Bid-Build). This includes a subconsultant team and high levels of complexity including multiple Project Managers at the District, and multiple locations.
Architectural Solution: Platt/Whitelaw is providing all services as necessary to all groups.
