Villa Montezuma Historic House/Museum

Villa Montezuma is a Queen Anne Victorian mansion designed in 1887 by master architects Comstock and Trotsche for musician Jesse Shepard. The house, located in Sherman Heights, is on the National Register of Historic Places. Platt/Whitelaw was hired to provide assessment of existing conditions and identify improvements required to reopen the Villa Montezuma to the public for tours. Improvements were to be consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Platt/Whitelaw identified improvements and provided full architectural services for the renovation.

This project was awarded APWA’s Project of the Year for Stabilization and Repair, 2015.
